Emacs Stuff

Here are some elisp libraries, links & docs that i have collected or written to improve the capabilities of GNU/Emacs.

You can also look at my .emacs (updated on May 09 2023)[html] and .gnus (updated on Dec, 27 2008)[html] configuration files (warning : W.I.P ;).

• cdi.el Elisp interface to the command-line cd players cda and cdcd.local copy
• crontab-mode.el A mode for editing crontab files. Fontifies the text and submits to a remote host.local copy
• emacsapp.tar.gz A set of bash functions to work with Emacs.app using applescript and emacs-client. If you use a unix shell and Emacs.app, you might like this.
• EmacsCVS-20050725-Installer.dmg A personal contribution to GNU/Emacs : a native Aqua MacOS X version compiled from CVS. Contains a .pkg installer that puts Emacs.app into /Applications. WARNING : although I am using it everyday, it is bleeding edge development version and not an official release !
• EmacsInstaller.dmg
• emacsOS9.smi.bin A second personal contrib to Emacs : a MacOS 9 build from CVS on 2005-02-01. This version should not have the 512 MB RAM limitation anymore. WARNING : as the OSX build, it is not a release quality but development version !
• emacsOS9.smi.bin.meta2
• etask-0.2.90.tar.gz Tasks managment, todos. Can generate Gantt diagrams in LaTeX format.
• find-this-file.el Allows you to read quickly a file located in some known directories, without specifying its full path. Can open the file at point (with optional line number : foo.bar:42 ).local copy
• folding.el (broken link)Makes Emacs a folding editor (collapsing of portions of a file for easier readability).local copy
• htmlfontify_0.20+texinfo.tar.gz For exporting a source code buffer into html with fontification and optional hyperlinks.
• html-helper-imenu.el Imenu support for html-helper and SGML mode. Produces a menu which looks like a 'table of contents' for the buffer.local copy
• htmlize.el Library to export a (source code) buffer into html, with keeping of the font disposition and colors. My Emacs and Gnus config files at the top of this page were generated with htmlize.local copy
• htmllist-php.sh
• jhg-cload.el Byte compiles files before 'load' or 'require' load them. This automates keeping 'elc' files up to date.local copy
• keymap_logic (french) Kai Großjohann once published in comp.emacs a little presentation about the Emacs keyboard layout in clear way. I translated that text and I publish it with his agreement.
• kill-ring-rotate.el A must have from Matthieu Moy : M-x kill-ring-rotate allows to browse the kill-ring with arrow keys, and choose an item to insert with RET.local copy
• my-htmlize.el Shows how to use htmlize in batch mode from the shell.
• nxml-mode-20040910.tar.gz THE xml editing mode.
• osx-osascript.el Support for Applescript within emacs. Should be called 'applescript-mode.el'.local copy
• osx-typecreator.el Gets / Sets the type and creator on OSX systems (personal patched version to prevent problems with paths containing ~).local copy
• patn-insert.el.Z Old (1990) yet useful emacs-lisp module to insert repeating patterns containing numerical or alphabetical sequences.
  Example : the following pattern

• scissors.el A simple script to insert cutting marks ---8<---.local copy
• screen-lines2.el When you have a buffer with wrapped lines, vertical cursor movements occurs between physical lines of the file and can make you jump between several lines at screen. This module allow to move one screen line at the time.
• scrmable.el Scrambles the order of letters in a word, leaving the first and last one in place. You can still read it ;^)local copy
• syslog-mode.el Enable fontification of the system logs.local copy
• TwistedEmacs-0.2.0.tar.bz2 Mode to edit python modules using Twisted communication layer.
• versions.el By Vinicius José Latorre (author of printing.el) : this package provides routines to compare string version and to convert string version into an integer list.local copy
• visual-basic-mode.el.gz A mode for editing Visual Basic programs.local copy
• XEmacs-21.5.20-carbon-beta.tar.bz2 Andrew Choi, who is a great contributor of Carbon Emacs for OSX is currently working on a carbonized beta XEmacs. There is no binary available yet, so I built one myself.
  The archive contains XEmacs.app, a bundle that includes all the files needed to work and that you can place wherever you want (eg: Applications folder). I preinstalled the packages sumo & mule-sumo within XEmacs.
• XEmacsCarbonCVS-21.5.21-b3.tar.bz2 Andrew Choi, who is a great contributor of Carbon Emacs for OSX is currently working on a carbonized beta XEmacs. There is no binary available yet, so I built one myself.
  The archive contains XEmacs.app, a bundle that includes all the files needed to work and that you can place wherever you want (eg: Applications folder). I preinstalled the packages sumo & mule-sumo within XEmacs.
